OnePlus Introduces AI-Powered Features to OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 11

OnePlus has rolled out updates for two of its smartphones, the OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 11, introducing new AI-powered features. The latest ColorOS updates for both handsets bring enhanced capabilities, although it’s uncertain when these features will reach OnePlus devices in global markets. These updates follow closely after Samsung unveiled its Galaxy S24 series, equipped with advanced AI features set to extend to other models.

The Android 14-based ColorOS 14 updates (PJD110_14.0.0.405-CN01 for OnePlus 12 and PHB110_14.0.0.403-CN01 for OnePlus 11) now include three new AI-driven features, exclusively available to users in China. The global variants of these phones operate on OxygenOS 14.

With the latest updates, users gain access to an AIGC Remover tool capable of eliminating people and objects from photos, as outlined in the changelog. Additionally, both the OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 11 can extract essential information from articles and generate summaries using AI.

Another addition is the AI Summariser tool, designed to extract times, places, and action items from calls to produce AI-generated summaries. The Breeno Touch app, which provides relevant information and services based on on-screen content, has also undergone enhancements. However, specifics regarding new capabilities within these features remain undisclosed.

In addition to the AI enhancements, OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 11 users in China can now unlock their phones without waking the screen and control QQ Music playback with the always-on display feature activated.

Furthermore, the update changelog reveals the introduction of a “device motion & orientation” permission, preventing apps from detecting the device’s orientation or movement. Users will also receive notifications via a floating window or status bar indicator when screen recording is ongoing.

As for global users, including those in India, there’s no official word from OnePlus regarding the availability of these features. Given that global OnePlus smartphones run on OxygenOS 14, it may take some time before these updates reach all users. Samsung recently announced plans to extend its Galaxy AI features to select older models following their debut on the Galaxy S24 series last month.
