New Feature in Google Meet Enhances Large Meetings

Google Meet is introducing a new feature aimed at improving large meetings by allowing hosts or co-hosts to pin up to three specific tiles for all participants. This feature ensures that everyone sees the same people, presentations, or items highlighted on their screen without any action required on their part. Previously, while participants could pin up to three tiles, it didn’t reflect on others’ screens. Users retain the option to unpin participants at their discretion.

Announced in a blog post by Google Workspace on February 5, the new feature allows meeting hosts or co-hosts to pin three specific tiles for all participants, including attendees, presentations, or other items. Google highlights the usefulness of this feature in large meetings or webinars with numerous attendees, where focusing on the speaker can be challenging without pinning.

Previously, users could individually pin participants and presentations, leading to potential confusion in large meetings. With this update, hosts and co-hosts can take charge, ensuring a more focused session.

In addition to this new feature, Google Meet recently introduced three personalization features. These include a redesigned interface for visual effects, expanded options for backgrounds, filters for adding accessories or effects, and customizable settings for lighting, framing, and video quality. Moreover, Google Meet now offers Studio Lighting on the web, providing participants with studio-quality lighting effects for their video frames. Additionally, Studio Sound utilizes AI to enhance audio quality during meetings.
